"For the Love of Ole Miss" was commissioned by the University of Mississippi as the theme song for the $200 million fund-raising campaign called “MomentUM.” The song was unveiled in October, 2007 when it was performed by the Count Basie Orchestra with vocalist Mary Donnelly Haskell, whose voice is on the official recording. Les and Bryan wrote the words and music and provided the University demo discs with complete vocal, instrumental and suggested shorter versions of the song in order to illustrate its versatility.

Funds generated from the MomentUM campaign will be used to establish a new school of journalism, complete a cancer center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, increase scholarship funding and other projects.

The lyrics of "For the Love of Ole Miss" feature such University icons at The Grove and the arch that begins the Walk of Champions across the campus. While the song reflects cherished memories of Ole Miss, it also accents the vibrant spirit that thrives among the school’s graduates and friends.

"For the Love of Ole Miss" is being offered as a free download on the MomentUM web site and will be utilized in a variety of ways by the University.
